An experienced Category Buyer is required to source and identify suppliers globally.  With no direct report the post holder will reporting into VP Global Category Manager and Group Managing Director.



Job Details

The role of Category Buyer will be responsible for group commodity purchasing, have an active contribution of cost reduction programs and growth programs with new projects and manage yearly price negotiations of serial products.

Responsible for negotiation and contract design in coordination with the superior Category Manager, creating of the Total Cost Comparison including supplier recommendation and ensure compliance with an implementation of purchasing processes including formal framework conditions.

Purchase responsibility for selected suppliers including price negotiations and target agreements, benchmark surveys on the purchasing volume in order to deduce savings potential and supplier strategy.


Experience / Qualifications

The successful candidate must have a commercial and/or technical degree and will have had at least 2 years’ experience of working in a similar role.  Be computer literate with a very good knowledge in the use of MS-Office, SAP and SRM, have very good English skills (oral and written) and have the ability to travel widely throughout the world.

It is essential that the candidate is a self-starter, ambitious and have knowledge of purchase methods and tools as well as project management.

Steel and castings product and system knowledge would be desirable.


Salary / Shifts

Day Shift

Up to £40,000 depending on experience
